Send photos to your friends in seconds

With AirDrop, you can quickly and easily share photos with anyone nearby who has an iOS device or a Mac. Just open the Photos app, select the photo or photos you want to share, tap Share, and choose AirDrop. Your devices will automatically find each other and start transferring the photos. You can even share multiple photos at once.

What is Airdrop and how does it work?

Airdrop is a built-in feature on iOS and macOS that lets you wirelessly share files between Apple devices. When you Airdrop photos from your iPhone to your Mac, they appear in the Downloads folder. If you’re using iCloud Photos, they download to both your Devices.

How to use Airdrop

To use Airdrop, you need an iPhone or iPad running iOS 7 or later, a fifth-generation iPod touch, or a Mac with OS X Lion or later.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

1. Open the Photos app and select the photos you want to share.

2. Tap Share and choose AirDrop.

3. Select the person you want to share with.

4. If you don’t see the person you want to share with, make sure that both devices are signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID and that AirDrop is turned on for both devices.

5. Tap Send.

How many photos can you airdrop at once

You can share multiple photos at once with AirDrop. There is no limit to the number of photos you can share.

Tips for using Airdrop to share your best photos

1. Make sure you’re in a well-lit area so your photos look their best.

2. If you’re sharing with someone who is using an iOS device, they can save the photos to their Camera Roll by tapping Save Images.

3. If you’re sharing with someone who is using a Mac, they can save the photos to their Downloads folder.

4. If you’re sharing with someone who is using an iOS device and they have iCloud Photos turned on, the photos will automatically download to their All Photos album.

5. If you’re sharing with someone who is using a Mac and they have iCloud Photos turned on, the photos will automatically download to their Downloads folder and then upload to iCloud.

6. If you’re sharing with someone who is using an iOS device and they don’t have iCloud Photos turned on, they can still save the photos to their Camera Roll by tapping Save Images.

7. If you’re sharing with someone who is using a Mac and they don’t have iCloud Photos turned on, they can still save the photos to their Downloads folder.

8. If you’re sharing with someone who is using an iOS device and they have AirDrop turned off, they won’t be able to see the photos you’re trying to share. To share photos with them, you’ll need to turn on AirDrop on both devices.

9. If you’re sharing with someone who is using a Mac and they have AirDrop turned off, they won’t be able to see the photos you’re trying to share. To share photos with them, you’ll need to turn on AirDrop on both devices.
